Brussels School of International Studies - University of Kent

The School is a Brussels-based department of the Univesity of Kent mainly focused on political sciences and international relations.  Legal studies are limited to international law, human rights law, and EU economic law. There, I've worked under the supervision of Professor Harm Schepel. Visiting students are offered a workspace, computer stations, and online access to the University of Kent library.  The BSIS does not have its own library, but Ph.D. students can access the VUB library nearby. Research seminars are held on a regular basis by in-house staff or guest lecturers.  Ph.D. students present their work on a monthly basis.  Visiting students are required to present their research and are involved e in the training and research activities of the faculty. Fees were waived by the academic director.

Edinburgh Law School, the University of Edinburgh

I had a chance to visit my visiting period at the University of Edinburgh in the UK under the supervision of Prof. Cormac MacAmhlaigh. I have to confess that it was a period full of academic inspiration and stimulation much more than I had expected before. I benefited a lot from weekly discussions of the Edinburgh Legal Theory Discussion Group and deepen my knowledge about legal and philosophical problems during the Edinburgh Legal Theory Festival held in the last week of May 2023. Most importantly, I received very important feedbacks from Prof. MacAmlaigh as regards the scope of my thesis, its research questions, limitations and contributions to the literature during my stay in Edinburgh. I appreciated the value of engaging with scholars interested in legal and philosophical problems despite their different disciplinary backgrounds. I am grateful to Prof. Palombella who convinced me to spend my visiting period in Edinburgh and the staff of the Sant' Anna School of Advanced Studies and the DIRPOLIS Institute for supporting me in coming here. On balance, I feel lucky to be part of Sant'Anna and grateful for the privileges coming with it.
